The lightning flashes across the sky.
For a moment all is lit and clear,
And then into darkness we do plunge again.
Thunder rolls in the distance,
Echoing on forever.
The sky is dark and dreary
Denying any light to shine through.
I begin to wonder if it will ever end.
I let the rain fall on me
Drenching me to the bone.
I let the lightning flash around me
Lighting up my darkened soul.
I feel the thunder rumble through me
Shaking me till I fall.
This storm I see outside
Mirrors the storm within my soul.

It’s hard to put an address
On the place I call my home.
It has no front stoop or back door,
No kitchen or dining set
It has no roof above my head,
No walls to keep me in.
And now that you aren’t here,
My home’s a place I’ve never been.

And whether it’s North or South
To me, it’s all the same.
